You are enthusiastically invited to run with us!

On this page we set out “When?”, “Where?”, “How Fast? How Slow? How Far?”, “How Much?”, and other important details.
When?
We meet up to twice each week to run…
On Sunday mornings, for all club members and relatively confident newcomers and visitors: throughout the year - rain or shine - at 08.15 for an 08.30 start. And on Tuesday evenings, for all club members and all newcomers and visitors: during British Summer Time - light permitting - at 18.15 for an 18.30 start.
There are also small informal groups of us habitually running on Thursday mornings, Friday afternoons and Friday evenings. Jackie (01603 261951) can put you in touch if you would like to join these.
Where?
We meet to run at the entrance to the Sports Club behind (and connected to) The Old Brewery in Reepham. There is a map here showing exactly how to find us. You can park right where we meet.
How Fast? How Slow? How Far?
On Sunday mornings and on Tuesday evenings we typically split up into pairs, threes or foursomes wanting to cover a similar distance at a similar pace. On average, the mix of small groups ranges from some wanting to cover three or four miles at about 11-minute-mile pace, to some running 10+ miles at about 8-minute-mile pace. We also guarantee that at least one club member will be available each Tuesday evening to guide a shorter, slower run or run/walk for beginners and newcomers, if this is wanted.
It should be emphasised that running clubs in general are much less competitive than people usually imagine, and that we are about the least competitive club around. Most of us run for fun and for fitness with very modest objectives, if any, beyond that. So, if you are a beginner, you are unlikely to find yourself out of your depth or feeling intimidated. If you are an experienced, wispy, elite runner then we would also love for you to run with us … but we cannot promise we'll keep up!
How Much?
There is no charge to run with us. After you have come along a few times and decided to make a habit of it, then we will expect you to become a member. Club membership costs £15 per year (£10 for OAPs and full-time students). We are affiliated to ARC and in many races (especially locally) your membership of Reepham Runners will entitle you run as an “affiliated runner”, with a reduced entry fee.
Other important details …
Do I just show up?
You are more than welcome to just show up on a Sunday or Tuesday.
If you have some confidence (i.e. you know that you can run steadily for 3 miles or more) then Sunday mornings are best for a first visit, as there tend to be more of us running, with a broader range of standards. If you are less confident in your running, or if you are a complete beginner, then Tuesday evenings (in summertime) are best as there will always be a club member willing to guide as short and/or slow a run as you want. Bear in mind though that - while we will do our best to provide company, enthusiasm and encouragement (and help you not to get lost!) - none of us qualify as "experts" ourselves, so we cannot offer formal coaching in any shape or form.
If you prefer, you can contact Richard (01603 879096) or Jackie (01603 261951) before your first visit to let someone know that you plan to come along. Richard or Jackie will also be more than happy just to chat about what we do.
Junior runners
To date, The Reepham Runners has mostly only catered for Senior and Veteran runners. We hope to make better provision for Junior runners to join us in the near future. In the meantime, as a Junior runner (aged 11-17) you are welcome to run with us but if you are under 16 you must be accompanied throughout the run by an adult family member or other legal guardian.
If you are keen to run but can’t persuade a suitable adult to put on some running shoes and try to keep up with you then contact Richard or Jackie anyway to let them know about your predicament … we will bear you in mind if we are able to cater better for Juniors soon.
