Busy Weekend - Sunday 27 October 2013

October finished with a flourish!

Holt 10k

Vikki Kirk set a pb by knocking a minute & half of her best for 10k, finishing in 64.03.  Good time, shows her training for Norwich Half is paying off.  Also running were Julie Dilrew with a time of 56.22, Guy Pitcher in 51.45, Andy Hawes in 48.35, Clem Vogler in 47.09 and then Mark Tuft, one of our trainers, in 42.37.  There were 278 running.

Mucky Races 10k

A group, who fancied a run with a difference, did the Mucky Races 10k around the Blackwater Cross Country Course, including the jumps and stream wadding, and did really well.  Nick Caley came in 8th in a time of 46.52, Sam Kingston, 13th, in 48.52, Shaun Webb, 15th in 49.23 and finally Leigh Nobes, 22nd in 51.08.  They were in a field of 265 runners.

Bronte Way Trail Run

Jenni Egmore and Nick Bowden ventured further afield this weekend.  They headed to Haworth in West Yorkshire for a beer and music festival on the Keighly and Worth Valley Railway and also for the Bronte Way Trail Run (not sure if it was a good combination!)  This was Jenni's first trail/fell run.  It started in heavy rain, high winds and then as they were heading out on to the open moors - hail.  The sun eventually came out and the wind helped push them towards the finish.  They both finished covered in mud and soaking wet.  Nick was 1 minute slower than last year with a time of 71.31 (76th).  Jenni eventually arrived after 90.56 minutes (154th).  There was a field of 180 over the 8 mile course.  Jenni may be back next year....

Marriotts Way 10k - 13 October 2013

Although the day started with heavy rain it had dried out ready for the start of the Marriots Way 10k.  This year, Shaun Webb, Leigh Nobes and Nick Caley ran it, marking their first year of running, as that was their first race last year. They all improved on last year's time with Shaun coming in 8th with a time of 39:01, Leigh coming in 15th with a time of 41:11, shortly followed by Nick in 17th place and a time of 41:19.  Excellent performances by all.

Peterborough Half Marathon - 13 October 2013

David Marks, even though he was sporting an injury, undertook the Peterborough Half Marathon.  He did really well as he was injured but it won't be going down as one of his best runs!

Report from Natalie from Chase the Train on 6 October 2013:

After a very long delay the race started 20mins+ late which ment the 2 oclock train left the station less than 1 minute before I reached the finish line - gutted.  I was looking forward to the train ride back had to call reinforcements to pick us up. But on a good note I did a PB 93 mins and julie and shaun did 84 mins again both PB's.
