Chase the train 8.9 mile race follows the foot path alongside Norfolk’s longest narrow guage steam railway from Aylsham Wroxham. I and Shayney turned up on this beautiful sunny lunchtime, picked our numbers up and then spotted Craig and Michael which was a nice surprise as we were unsure of who else was running from Reepham Runners. Due to race starting at 12.20 we were all unprepared and our stomachs were rumbling already, and with Craig going to a football presentation evening on the Saturday night, we all thought this was going to be a bad run, anyway off we all went.
I knocked 8 minutes of my time from last year with 1.27.13, Shayney Blyth time was 1.29.50, Michael Grand coming in at 1.10.12 and Craig Farr even though feeling pretty tired came in at 1.06.13, PB’s all-round as this was the first time that everyone else had done this race.
The route is most of the time only wide enough for single file, but a beautiful route, with the sun shining down it was quite a hot but enjoyable race. Ice creams all round at the finish to congratulate ourselves.
